OK, so this post isn’t exactly one day later, considering the skin care class was weeks ago, and I’ve posted nothing since the introduction post below but, just play along.
As skin care workshops go, I’d have to say, the event was informative, enjoyable and eye-opening. The locale, decor and presenters were all top-notch. I actually anticipated a smaller turn-out given the ‘up-to-the-last-minute’ registration announcements sent via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. After my hour-long commute by train and near-death cab ride which lasted all of 15 minutes maybe, I paid the cabbie, hurried out and did that little late-but-trying-not to panic walk for about half a block in heels before I whirled through the revolving doors into the sprawling lobby with marble (see slippery) floors.
Once inside, I looked to my left for the Slushy sign next to the news stand as indicated in the brochure’s directional map, and quickly scanned the area next to it for the elevator sign. As I approached, I noticed a woman standing to my right with the same seminar brochure in her hand and felt somewhat at ease. While I was not late per se, something about getting to an appointment five minutes to the arrival time just gives me that off-put feeling of coming so close to being late that I might as well be.
