This post is of no educational relevance, just thought I’d point something out about myself. Maybe you have the same problem – my skin is weird.

As I stated in my last post, I recently took a course on advanced esthetics. At the end of the course, I had a skin peel performed by a fellow attendee. There were only five of us in the class and the instructor was there guiding her through each step while the others hovered around the bed & watched. She used the Sensi Peel by PCA, a favorite of mine and a line I know well plus all the other products used were also by PCA so I felt comfortable with the process.

Typical of most skin peel procedures, the normal steps were followed, my skin was cleansed first and she sanitized her hands and wore gloves during the procedure. Everything went fine. PCA peels are layered leave-on peels so a protective barrier was applied to my skin and off I went.

The first few days showed little peeling and I could see the effect of the peel on my face.  My skin had a bit of a glow and some of the remaining dark spots left over from my days of battling acne were starting to fade.

Few days later and the peeling became more intense. So much so, that I had to decline a wonderful networking opportunity to attend a fabulous downtown meetup of some of the most notable hair bloggers in the nation. The opportunity to work the event came to me by the awesomely accessorized Cassidy Blackwell of Natural Selection fame. I was anxious to make some new contacts and be rewarded with a huge gift bag of beauty and hair goodies! It  fell into my lap by accident and I immediately said yes, then had to decline upon rethinking my face. womp, womp….

But I digress, after 3-4 days of this, the unthinkable happened. Breakouts.

Not huge, monstrous, cystic bumps that can literally ruin your life but a cluster of small, hard, itchy, pimples on my chin and a another small bump on my forehead that had me so mad I wanted to kick something!

See, prior to this class, my skin was clear and glowing. I noticed it but several others did too. A week prior to this class, I attended a friend’s engagement party at a swanky restaurant and the guest of honor pulled me aside to ask me for some health and beauty tips because my skin was glow-wing! She assumed I’d been downing green smoothies by the jug or doing some other boho regimen ( I tend to try things) that produced good results. Not this time.. 🙂

Anyone who has ever battled acne as much as I have, knows how incredible it feels when your skin is truly on point. Priceless! So to have an ugly little breakout occur shortly after having a treatment, well, that’s just saddening and frustrating going on a date together… not a good feeling at all.

I immediately went back to my old school remedies for clearing up my skin, it’s working but it does take time. I had another party to attend this past weekend & while my skin isn’t terrible, a few pimples remain. No one likes getting ready for a party with the task of concealing pimples to tend to.

All of this has brought me to a conclusion ~ my skin doesn’t like to be touched by others.

Such a strange concept considering I’m a LE, so touch is what it’s all about but for some reason, my skin doesn’t like other hands all up in its business.

This is the second professional class I’ve taken where my skin has freaked out afterward. Albeit this time wasn’t nearly as bad as before but still. The majority of my time in beauty school was spent with less than good skin, despite being clear at the start. And the last time I had really great results following a professional treatment was 2005.

So there it is, my skin is anti-social.

My significant other pointed out that it could be the gloves since they were used during each treatment I received starting in beauty school and in both classes taken.

Hmm

I’ll be testing that theory soon…

I leave you with this, don’t EVER  google “weird skin”, totally freaky, gross and bizarre results. Totally.
